This session is for carers of clients who have purchased a package of coaching support from Campsie Coaching, to accompany their work through The Chrysalis Effect Online Recovery Programme. It is a one-off session, mainly for their main carer/partner, designed to help mutual awareness and support through the challenges of recovery. After 45 minutes 1:1 with the carer, the recovering client will join us for the final 15 minutes.
It may be purchased at any point during the package, but I recommend that it follows the client’s first full session.
It may be purchased at any point during the package, but I recommend that it follows the client’s first full session.
Since my primary focus as a coach is on the person who is working through the recovery programme, it is not appropriate for me to offer ongoing support to their carer too. However, I am happy to refer carers to another practitioner for further coaching support. If you decide that further couples coaching or counselling would help I can signpost/refer you to an appropriate practitioner.
You will receive:
- 1 x hour long online consultation via Zoom.
- A Handout signposting useful contacts and resources for carers of a person with a chronic exhaustive condition.
Supporting Each Other Through Recovery
Caring for a loved one with CFS, ME, fibromyalgia, or long Covid is a hard journey, and one that often goes unrecognised or supported. As a carer, you may be overwhelmed with questions, unsure of how to help, or struggling with the changes the illness has brought into your relationship. You may find it hard to find time for your own needs, feel guilty for needing time and support for yourself, or even struggle to recognise what you need at all. These are illnesses that are poorly supported or understood by our health and social care services, and it can feel that both of you are trapped in a miserable place with no clear way forward and no-one who sees or hears you.
This coaching session is designed to support you through this challenging time—helping you support each other as you navigate illness and recovery together. The first 45 minutes offers the carer time on their own with Alison, to talk and ask questions in a safe and supported space. Then we are joined for 15 minutes by the person who is unwell and we will talk together about how you can support each other on this recovery journey.
What You Will Gain?
- Answers to the big questions: What is chronic fatigue, and why is it happening? How is it impacting both of you emotionally, physically, and within your relationship? Is recovery possible and what might that look like?
- Clarity on how you, as the carer, can support your loved one’s recovery without neglecting your own needs for support and wellbeing.
- A deeper understanding of how the illness is affecting your relationship dynamics and how you can foster healthier, more open communication going forward.
- Practical tools to help both of you feel more equipped to face this journey together, with empathy and resilience.
Who Is This For?
The majority of the time in this session, 45 minutes, is given to the carer alone, to enable them to talk and ask questions freely. After this, we will invite the recoverer to join us, so that we can talk through whatever the carer would like to share, and explore how the two of you can best support each other.
What to Expect
During this one-off Zoom session we will be:
- Understanding what chronic fatigue syndrome, ME, fibromyalgia, or long Covid is, and how to make sense of the often confusing symptoms.
- Exploring how the illness is affecting the roles in your relationship and how you can adapt to these changes with compassion and patience.
- Supporting the carer in looking after their own wellbeing, while also offering the best possible support for their loved one’s recovery.
- Finding ways to communicate openly and work as a team through the challenges of illness and recovery.
My Approach
I take a holistic approach, recognising that chronic illness doesn’t just affect one person—it affects both of you. My coaching helps both of you understand what’s happening and why, giving you tools to navigate the emotional and practical aspects of this journey together. The relationship you share plays a vital role in the recovery process, and by creating a shared understanding, we can ensure that both of your needs are seen, heard, and supported.
